The plot connects with the original film of the series from which Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Michelle Rodriguez, and Jordana Brewster reprise their roles.[2][3] The film was directed by Justin Lin, who also directed the third and fifth installments of the series, The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift and Fast Five. It is also the first film in the series to give more emphasis to American built muscle cars than imported cars.
